Ecology, annual cycles, photoperiodic control of seasonal events, moult,
invasions, bird protection. I am most interested in studying adaptations and evolution of annual cycles in food specialists, in particularly in seed-eaters.

MAIN OBJECTS

Passerines (first of all Fringillidae family) and Picidae.

STUDY AREAS

North-west Russia, Tien Shan.

EDUCATION

1972-1977 - MSc in Biology, "Biotope distribution and number dynamics in the Tree (Passer montanus) and House (P. domesticus) Sparrows in the Leningrad Region", Leningrad State University, USSR (Russia);
1982-1988 - PhD courses in Zoological Institute of Academy of Science of the USSR. PhD Thesis: "Comparative study of some seasonal events in the Fringillidae family (Aves)". Zoological Institute of Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Leningrad, USSR, 1988.
1998-2001 - courses for a doctor`s degree.

EMPLOYMENT

1977-1979 - Biological Institute of Academy of Sciences of Kirghiz Republic;
